This 13 acre greenfield site is located to the east of the market town of Calne, Wiltshire.
Outline planning permission for a scheme of up to 125 residential dwellings was granted by the Secretary of State in October 2014 following an appeal lodged against the refusal to grant planning permission in November 2013.
This site was not allocated for development and lay outside of the Framework Boundary defined in the adopted local plan. It was however successfully argued that the Council could not demonstrate sufficient land for housing and when assessed against the policies in the National Planning Policy Framework as a whole the adverse impacts would not significantly or demonstrably outweigh the benefits as a whole and the appeal was consequently allowed.
