Sandridge Common, Melksham

Wiltshire

  • Planning Authority Wiltshire
  • Type Residential
  • Area 8 acres
  • Size 100 dwellings

This 8 acre greenfield site lies north of Sandridge Common in Melksham.

Outline planning permission for a scheme of up to 100 homes along with infrastructure, open space, landscaping and a new access road was granted by Wiltshire Council in July 2016.

The houses (30% affordable) will contribute towards the local authority's target of 1,000 new homes in Melksham between 2014 and 2026.

The proposal was not in accordance with Wiltshire Council's Development Plan.  It was successfully argued, however, that there are no adverse impacts that would significantly outweigh the benefits that this development can offer in a location which forms a logical extension to the town and is identified for sustainable growth.

December 2015 Planing application for outline planning permission submitted
April 2016 Application deferred by Wiltshire Council planning committee and delegated to Area Development Manager
July 2016 Planing permission granted by Wiltshire Council
November 2016 Site Sold
