A new Aldi food store for St Mellons

Robert Hitchins Limited, regional property developers and owners of Eastern Business Park, in partnership with Aldi, the award-winning discount food retailer, are excited to announce plans for a new high-quality food store at Plot A, Wern Fawr Lane, St Mellons, Cardiff.
Our proposals would see a surplus parking area developed into a new Aldi food store, bringing Aldi’s discount goods to St Mellons without using any greenfield land.
The new store will also help to secure the long-term success of the adjoining business park, improving the environment and amenities for workers and creating a more attractive destination for future investment.
Aldi wants to improve consumer choice and competition. With the nearest store in Pontprennau, three miles away, an Aldi for St Mellons would address the shortage of supermarkets in the area. With easy access on foot and via three bus routes, the store would cut unnecessary car trips, contributing to lower carbon emissions and help to improve the local environment.
The store, with a sales area of 12,454 sqft (1,157 sqm) and 108 parking spaces, represents an investment of £7 million into the local economy and will mean the creation of up to 40 new jobs at an industry-leading rate.
